About us

Although the company was established in 2013 it can be proud of professionals with over 15 years’ experience in the field of wood drying chambers. Work experience gained over the years, allows experts of industry to know all nuances of operation of drying chambers, as a result we can offer to the customer the most effective solution.
The company offers design, production and assembly of wood drying equipment, corresponding to the standards of European Union.
Balt Brand during its existence has developed to three manufacturing facilities, with the latest generation of technology, and the ability to produce around 100 wood drying chambers per year. Our company does not stand still, but is always thinking of innovative solutions to make the drying chamber more efficient. As a result, demand for Balt Brand wood drying chambers continues to grow.

The company offers design, production and assembly of wood drying equipment, corresponding to the standards of European Union. We offer different level of solutions – from individual elements of wood dryers (wood drying equipment) to a full service including advisory services, appropriate equipment selection production, delivery, installation, commissioning and servicing equipment during the warranty and post-warranty period. We can offer also restoration and modernization of existing wood drying plants, adapting them to the new requirements

News and Events

Progress of the Third Interim Stage and Achieved Results
During the implementation of Project No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/1/22/A/CFLA/006, the necessary measurements and data analysis for the wood drying process have been carried out. Based on the collected data, the required calculations have been completed, resulting in the following achievements:
  • The electrical control and automation distribution panel for the heat recovery system has been installed and connected. It is currently being tested together with the kiln and heat recovery control software.
  • Control software for the drying kilns and the heat recovery system has been developed. The software is being tested under real operating conditions and continuously refined.
  • 90% of the air duct system has been installed.
  • Upon completion of the required tests, the heat recovery unit will be connected using the pre-fabricated air duct fittings.
  • The air-to-air heat exchanger for the heat recovery unit has been assembled, and testing of the unit is currently underway.
  • All procurement activities have been completed:
    • The air-to-water heat exchanger for the heat recovery system will be delivered within the next week.
    • Fans for air supply and exhaust in the drying kilns are scheduled for delivery by the end of November.
Work Completed and Results Achieved During the Second Interim Stage
During the implementation of Project No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/1/22/A/CFLA/006, measurements of the parameters required for wood drying and data analysis were carried out. Based on the data obtained, we performed the necessary calculations and achieved the following results:

  • Detailed electrical control schematics for the drying kilns and heat recovery unit were developed.
  • The components required for the construction of the control and automation cabinet were designed and calculated.
  • The following procurement procedures have been completed:
  • procurement of control and automation components for the heat recovery system,
  • procurement of a heat exchanger for the heat recovery system,
  • Development of the control software for the drying kilns and heat recovery system is ongoing.
  • Air duct components for the heat recovery system and their connections to the drying kilns are being constructed.

Balt Brand Ltd.

Balt Brand Ltd. signed Agreement No. 17.1-1-L-2024/185 with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) on 4 April 2024 for receiving export support under the project “Development of Innovative Entrepreneurship in SMEs”, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

Work Completed and Results Achieved During the First Interim Stage

During the implementation of Project No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/1/22/A/CFLA/006, measurements of the parameters required for wood drying were carried out.

Data analysis was performed, and based on the obtained results, the necessary calculations were completed. The following results were achieved:

  • 1. A functional model of the heat recovery system was developed.
  • 2. Engineering drawings for the heat recovery system were prepared.
  • 3. A technical specification for the automation of the equipment and the system was developed.

Recovery Fund Operational Programme

Within the framework of the Recovery Fund Operational Programme “Implementation Rules for the Investment ‘Support Instrument for the Development of Innovation Clusters’ (5.1.1.2.i.) under Reform 5.1.1.r ‘Innovation Management and Motivation of Private R&D Investments’ of Reform and Investment Direction 5.1.r ‘Increasing Productivity through Higher Investment in R&D’ of Latvia’s Recovery and Resilience Facility Plan”, SIA Mechanical Engineering Competence Centre is implementing Project No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/1/22/A/CFLA/006, “Mechanical Engineering Competence Centre”, from 13 September 2022 to 30 June 2026.

As part of the “Mechanical Engineering Competence Centre” project, Balt Brand Ltd. and Timber Trade Development Ltd. commenced Research Project No. 4.10, “Development of a Prototype of an Automated Heat Recovery (Recuperation) System for Wood Drying Kilns”, on 1 November 2023.

The objective of the research project is to enable effective cooperation between two companies from different industries—Balt Brand Ltd. and Timber Trade Development Ltd.—to investigate ways of reducing the energy required for the timber drying process and improving the efficient use of energy generated during drying. This will be achieved through the development of a prototype of an automated heat recovery (recuperation) system for firewood drying kilns.

As a result of the research project, a prototype of an efficient heat recovery system for timber drying kilns will be developed and validated in a real operating environment (TRL 7). The prototype is intended to ensure efficient, economical use and reuse of energy resources. The project consists exclusively of experimental development activities.

The research project is scheduled for completion by 31 December 2024. The total planned project budget is EUR 329,500.00, of which EUR 197,700.00 is financed by the European Union Recovery Fund.
